Fuel and Travel Restrictions for the Sunshine Coast

For those of you who haven't heard, there have been a couple restrictions placed on travel due to the recent floods.

First there are travel restrictions placed on 3 of the highways in the lower mainland:

  • Highway
From the junction of Highway 5 and Highway 3 in Hope to the west entrance into Princeton from Highway.
  • Highway 7
From the junction of Highway 7 and Highway 9 in Agassiz to the junction of Highway 7 and Highway 1 in Hope
  • Highway 99
From the junction of Highway 99 and Lillooet River Rd to the BC Hydro Seton Lake Campsite access in Lillooet

These will hopefully not affect many people on the coast, but the other restriction may.

They have also posted a restriction on fuel.

There is a limit to 30 litres of gasoline per fill up.

The priority is given to essential vehicles only which is outlined in the articles attached.

They have also places a prohibition against retailers raising the cost per litre for fuel.

These restrictions are placed until December 1, at which time they will reassess and determine if further time is needed.
